Join the Chamber Singers for a program centering the music of outstanding underrepresented choral creators of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. With a focus on Black, Latinx, and women composers, the program will include the music of Margaret Bonds, Rosenphanye Powell, Abbie Betinis, Andre Thomas, Emma Lou Diemer, José Maurício Nunes Garcia, Ysaye Barnwell, Joel Thompson and other well-known artists. The concert will also feature setting of texts by Langston Hughes, Paul Laurence Dunbar, and Maya Angelou that promote equity and rebuke racism and injustice. Faculty from the Department of Literature to give deep context to the poetry and their choral settings.
Tickets: Free for AU students with ID, $10 for alumni, staff, faculty, and senior citizens (55 and older), $15 general admission.

Masks are optional but strongly recommended. N-95, KN-94, or KN-95 masks are especially encouraged.Proof of vaccination or negative PCR COVID-19 test. American University Students: Due to technical issues with Audience View, American University students must reserve their free tickets in person at the Katzen ticket office (Monday–Friday, 11AM-4PM) or one hour prior to performances at the Katzen Arts Center or Greenberg Theatre. Bring your student ID. Free student tickets may only be reserved one at a time and are non-transferable. Free tickets must be claimed with your student ID at will call earlier than 10 minutes before the performance starts or they will be released to the public. For questions, contact us.
